| Job Description : | Bethany United Methodist ChurchModern Worship Leader Job DescriptionJob Title: Modern Worship Leader (Assistant/Associate Minister of Music)Date: 10/19/2021Reports to: Executive Pastor of Worship & MusicThis current position is full-time but could be divided among multiple leaders as needed. Primary responsibilities include: directing, coordinating, and overseeing the music for the Sunday 11:15 Modern Worship Service. Additional duties include:Saturday 5:00 Casual Traditional Service and the Sunday 6:30 Youth Worship Service, as well as the rehearsals required for these services.Principal ResponsibilitiesCoordinate and direct a team of musicians and vocalists who lead the congregation in worship and offer special musical presentations to enhance the worship theme and focus for each service stated above. This includes: o Selecting music to align with sermon themes in modern worship services o Recruit, inspire, nurture, rehearse and lead instrumentalists and vocalists in weekly rehearsals and worship services o Participate in seasonal worship services and special events as neededAdministrative duties include scheduling, research, charting, transcribing, selecting and purchasing of music and equipment, as well as preparing budget and disbursing funds to support the ministryWorks closely with the Sound and Multimedia Team Leader.Additional ResponsibilitiesMust keep regular office hoursMust work collaboratively and effectively with Worship Planning Team to plan worship servicesMust work cooperatively with Director of Student Ministries to plan Youth Worship ServicesMust maintain professional appearance and mannerMust be available for funerals and weddings as neededTeaching of private lessons is negotiableLeadership ExpectationsMust understand God’s calling and bring prayer and Biblical principles to the positionMust be an effective spiritual leader who models good Christian character, ethics and discipline for the music teams and congregation, following the UMC Book of DisciplineMust nurture team members by helping them develop their gifts and gracesMust establish and maintain a ministerial relationship with musical groupsCompetencies RequiredMust be organized, prompt, dependable and committed to jobMust be an outgoing, positive, self-starting individual with well-developed interpersonal and communications skills, be a team playerMust have the ability to build excitement about the music ministry and recruit new membersSkills and Knowledge RequiredMust be a trained musician, demonstrating strong vocal abilityMust be proficiency in keyboard and/or guitar, or other instrumentsPreferred ExperienceExperience in and passion for modern worship and contemporary praise musicExperience with Sound and Media production (also ProPresenter and Planning Center)Experience working in a church as paid staff or volunteer is desired (3-5 years at a minimum)Bethany UMC 10010 Anderson Mill Rd. 512.258.6017 x 236Austin, TX 78750Job Types: Full-time, Part-timePay: $15,003.00 – $55,000.00 per yearBenefits:Flexible scheduleHealth insurancePaid time offSchedule:Weekend availabilityEducation:High school or equivalent (Preferred)Experience:Worship Leader: 3 years (Required)Work Location: One location |
