“Indiana’s Team” in the world’s game is seeking a talented individual to lead digital content initiatives that will bolster Indy Eleven’s position as the preeminent franchise in the United Soccer League (USL).

As a part of Indy Sports & Entertainment, Indy Eleven is owned by Ersal Ozdemir and led by well-respected sports industry executive Greg Stremlaw. The Eleven are the only USL Championship team and the highest level of professional soccer in the state of Indiana. Our 2022 calendar will mark the fifth season of play for Indy Eleven’s Men’s First Team in the USL Championship (and ninth season overall), usher in the Inaugural Season of our Women’s Senior Team in the pre-professional USL W League, and build upon last year’s successful debut in both the USL Academy Cup and League competitions.

Job Description: The Manager, Content Communications will play the lead role in developing and executing a content strategy that will effectively tell the stories of the club’s players, staff, fans, and partners; keep fans and media up to date on the latest team news; and support various revenue generation initiatives across the team’s social media channels and on its official website, indyeleven.com.
The Manager, Content Communications will split time between the team’s downtown Indianapolis front office location and the club’s training center at the Grand Park Sports Campus in north suburban Westfield (approx. 35 minutes from downtown Indy). The flexibility to work weekends and nights as dictated by Indy Eleven’s match and event schedules is a must.
This role requires exceptional organizational skills, the ability to track and complete multiple projects concurrently, and a track record for turning around quality materials on tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Working well in a collaborative environment is also a high priority, as this person will work as part of the club’s “Creative Team” (spanning employees in the Marketing and Content/Communications Departments) in addition to with various employees within the organization and outside partners as specific projects warrant.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Formulate and lead the Creative Team in executing a digital content strategy that will result in a material increase in followers and engagement across all social media channels, capitalizing on team news, current events, social media & pop culture trends, etc.
Create video, photo, and graphics content covering a wide variety of storylines and events connected to the club’s on- and off-the-field activities, including but not limited to training sessions and matches involving the Indy Eleven First Team (USL Championship), Women’s Senior Team (USL W League), and Academy (USL Academy League & USL Academy Cup); player, coach, and/or mascot appearances in the community; and various Community Partner and/or Corporate Partner activities involving members of the organization
Serve as the primary poster of content across club’s social media channels (via mastery the club’s Opendorse content management system) and delegate scheduling/posting duties to other members of the club’s Creative Team where necessary
Lead all social media analytics efforts and generate monthly metrics report for leadership
Play lead role in collaborating with Creative Team and staff members across the organization to ideate, create, and execute creative content – including ways to produce engaging campaigns in support of season-long Marketing Theme and revenue-generating initiatives via Merchandise, Ticket Sales, and Corporate Partnerships Departments
Create various types of written content (press releases, features, sidebars, blog posts, game previews/recaps, etc.) for team’s official website, indyeleven.com, and utilize WordPress-based CMS to post content and build pages where applicable
Build weekly and monthly content calendars and lead Creative Team in ensuring they are executed successfully and updated as needed
Meet and engage with Indy Eleven’s USL Championship, USL W League, and USL Academy players and coaches in order to develop content that grows their brand in a way that fits Indy Eleven’s brand voice and guidelines
Assist in the club’s digital asset management process, including organizing and archiving of video, photography, and graphics files
Serve as secondary contact for media members in conjunction with Sr. Director, Communications & Marketing
Assist in the hiring, supervision, evaluation, and mentorship duties associated with the Communications Intern and Video Communication Intern roles across the three annual internship terms
Track new technologies, applications, and software that can bring innovative content to the club’s digital channels and gameday experience
Other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Management

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited College/ University in a related field preferred.
At least three (3) years of experience leading a brand’s social media platforms and/or digital content initiatives, with experience in the sports industry preferred; ability to provide portfolio demonstrating capabilities and previous work also required
Extensive knowledge of social media trends, strategies, metrics tracking, and best practices
Exemplary writing and editing skills and the ability to produce or oversee production of all types of content for social media consumption
Knowledge of the sport of soccer is a must, while knowledge of Indy Eleven and/or the USL Championship is an asset
Must be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Premiere (or Final Cut Pro)
Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to work productively and multi-task in an unstructured fast paced environment with frequent interruptions and tight deadlines
Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information
Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently in English – both verbal and written; bilingual in Spanish is an asset, but not required
Flexible work schedule with the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as the event calendar requires – including select out-of-market games
