We strive for continuous improvement and a culture of innovation from every member on our team.Your Role on the TeamWe are looking for an experienced Game Artist to join our team. You will be primarily creating highly polished 2D assets and UI elements for our various games; however, some experience with motion graphics, VFX / particle animations, sprite sequences, and other ways of making games pop and sizzle, will be valuable! This position reports to our Head of Design, is supported by our Art Producer, and will work alongside our other 2D and 3D artists. You will mentor game designers and artist to help them grow in their disciplines.ResponsibilitiesWorking from provided guidelines (verbal, sketch, or general idea hand-waving), build out game-ready assets through our pipeline (concept, review, notes/iteration, finalize, export and prep)Provide creative input and ideas on areas of our games and Gaming platform to improve visuallyAssist in creating wireframes, mock-ups, and “one-pagers” to support our Sales and Marketing teamsWork with our Producers and other artists to keep our art needs on schedule and exceeding quality expectationsMaintain visibility of your workload and status by keeping tickets updated in our tracking system (Jira) and being communicative of any delays or obstaclesLeads design within game and drives design decisions, making sure everything is scoped out properlyMentor and manage interns, junior designers and mid-level designers. Helps them gain new skills and level upRequirements7+ years working experience in game design, UX/UI, or related fieldProfessional experience as a UI/UX and game artist (portfolio required, shipped games preferred)Proficiency with Adobe cloud, specifically Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects. As well as Figma and Sketch.Experience creating wireframes and prototypesExcellent documentation and verbal communication skillsStrong knowledge of modern UX tenets and implementation, with specific study of player experience in games and gamified platformsStrong compositional and graphic layout skills2D Animation skills very helpfulDevotion to excellence — as an artist, as a colleague, and as a co-creatorSolid understanding of Unreal, Unity or PlayCanvas game engines.Familiarity with modeling/sculpting tools such as Zbrush or Blender.Experience optimizing assets for the web and mobile.Ability to create and optimize particle systems and animation.RoadmapVersus Systems is expanding into new markets rapidly and taking on ever-larger challenges as we learn and grow.
