THIS IS STEP #1 OF THE HIRING PROCESS!The Painting with a Twist – Newark studio is looking for part-time outgoing artists (prior teaching experience is a plus but not necessary) to work in a creative, entertaining, social environment as Artist, Instructor, Entertainer and Assistant Artist.It is important that our customers have a fun experience, so you need to be good at reading an audience. An ideal candidate loves being the host of a party and making sure that everyone gets attention and feels welcome. As a stage artist you must be highly energetic, animated, and lead people to sing, dance, and play games, and of course paint.This is not a formal art class – it is a fun night out for our guests, and you are the host! As the host of the party, you are the one that initiates conversations and gets people interacting.You must be able to engage and guide both small and large groups, of up to 50 people, to paint an acrylic painting in 2-3 hours. Artists also perform other tasks including event preparation, set-up/clean up and ad-hoc customer service as needed. We primarily host evening events weekdays and all day weekends, but events and parties are held day and night 7 days a week for both kids and adults. Individual schedules vary weekly & are posted 2-3 weeks in advance. Weekday, summer availability is also desired for Twist Kids Camp and Family events.Evening and weekend availability is required and living within a 20-minute commute of our Studio is recommended.You must be able to reproduce PWAT paintings, teach others (mostly novice painters) to paint them, and be entertaining while doing so. The ideal candidate also has some performing experience – looking for artists who are teacher, actors, singers, musicians, and all-around entertainers. So, make sure to tell us about more than just your painting experience.All Instructors start as Assistants/Floor Artists and move into teaching if/when the fit is right (60-day probationary period).
