The Paley Center for Media, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with locations in New York and Los Angeles, leads the discussion about the cultural, creative, and social significance of television, radio, and emerging platforms for the professional community and media-interested public.

Drawing upon its curatorial expertise, an international collection, and close relationships with the leaders of the media community, the Paley Center examines the intersections between media and society. The general public can access the Paley Archive – including special African-American, Hispanic, LGBT, Women’s and Music collections – and participate in programs that explore and celebrate the creativity, the innovations, the personalities, and the leaders who are shaping media.

Through the global programs of its Media Council and International Council, the Paley Center also serves as a neutral setting where media professionals can engage in discussion about the evolving media landscape.

Scope

The Paley Center for Media is seeking enthusiastic and outgoing Guest Services Associates to join the Guest Services team. Guest Service Associates play a critical role in creating a welcoming, safe, positive, friendly, and meaningful experience for all guests. This position is for special events, public programs, festivals and galas that are held at various times and venues in Los Angeles throughout the year and is scheduled on an as-needed basis. The ideal candidate for this position is energetic with excellent communication and customer service skills. Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends, based on event schedules is required.
Please note, at this time, we are only reviewing candidates who are available to work the 39th Annual PaleyFest LA (paleyfest.org), during the week of April 2 – 10, 2022.
Responsibilities

Creates a welcoming, safe, positive, friendly, and meaningful experience for all members and guests
Demonstrates excellent customer service skills and sets the tone for a positive guest experience, maintaining a professional manner, presence, and appearance at all times while adhering to Paley policies and procedures
Answer general questions and respond to visitor needs
Conduct, operate and complete computerized ticketing transactions including admission, VIP check-in, public program sales, and visitor donations
Sell memberships and talk up promotions
Provide seat guidance as ushers and know all the various seating components of each theater venue
Escort VIPs in professional manner
Share Paley Center knowledge about exhibits, the Archive, history, public programs, and special events
Educate and encourage guests and visitors to follow health and safety procedures
Handle other duties or projects as assigned by Guest Services Manager or Festival Director

Requirements

Prior customer service and administrative experience including guest service experience at a theater, museum, performing arts center, luxury hotel, retail, or other service oriented organizations
Ability to work early mornings, late evenings, or weekends, when necessary, to support Paley events and programs
A minimum education level of High School Graduate or its equivalence
Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks proficiently with very strong attention to detail and follow-up
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Sharepoint, and additional CRM or ticketing platforms a plus
An interest in media, television and entertainment
Ability to stand, walk, and climb stairs for long periods of time
Able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs
Self-motivated, adaptable, accepting of challenges and proven ability to follow direction
Maintain professional appearance and demeanor at all times
Available to work flexible hours
Bilingual in Spanish, a plus
Completed COVID vaccination and booster
