We are looking for an experienced Events Coordinator to join the Workplace team. New Relic is a vibrant Software Analytics company whose people and culture make us who we are. Your ideas and work have an impact here, so we’re searching for someone who is ready to put their skills to great use!
Workplace helps shape the outstanding culture at New Relic every day. Events are a meaningful component that enable Relic’s to connect, learn, and network. In this role, there is an emphasis on event planning and management, but it also includes operations management tasks. This role is based in our Portland, Oregon office.
What You’ll Do
Plan and coordinate all internal events from start to finish and functions including schedule, location, theme, food, entertainment, and other support services
Serve as the single point of contact with external vendors and provide on-site support during events (daytime and occasional early evening events)
Own all event-related contract submissions, POs, and budget tracking
Run internal training rooms including calendaring, setups, teardowns, and catering; assist with catering for large meetings
Collaborate with Workplace and our cross-functional partners to provide the best possible customer experience; support North American offices in coordinating and running events
Work closely with Workplace Operations teams globally to streamline events process across our global offices; support the ongoing development of global events policies and procedures for all offices
Document processes and procedures. Cross-train across other Workplace services and roles to be ready to provide backup coverage at a moment’s notice
Regularly support the Workplace team by covering reception when required and other special projects
Your Qualifications
Must-have:
3+ years of corporate event planning, or relevant event planning experience
Excellent communication skills
Strong full-cycle project management skills, attention to detail
Experience owning and managing large budgets
Working understanding of Mac platform and with Google Mail, Calendar, Docs, and Sheets
Proven record of vendor negotiation and management, and has managed multiple events simultaneously
Is a self-starter and feels comfortable working independently
Nice-to-have:
InDesign or other design program tool knowledge
Extensive knowledge of local vendors – food, event, entertainment
