ROLE OVERVIEW The Creative Director (Copy) / Lead Writer is a creative beacon for The SpringHill Company leading development of insights-driven original ideas and concepts for our owned brands: Uninterrupted and SpringHill, and that of our brand partners. This role is a creative leader who has experience managing writing teams and developing short-form, long-form, and episodic content. The ideal candidate has a passion for sports and lifestyle culture, has a demonstrated ability to concept and execute on-brand and on-brief, and possesses the unique talent to translate their ideas into original brand messaging, copy, or content scripts. The ideal candidate will have a portfolio of work that demonstrates a diversity of project types from marketing communication to branded content to entertainment content. They will also be an experienced and engaged manager, capable of building and leading a creative writing team that sets an expectation for excellence and collaboration. The CD role sits within the Creative team reports to the Chief Creative Officer, and works closely with Creative Directors, Strategists, Writers, Art Directors, Designers and Project Managers. The Creative team, also known as the Department of Abnormal Results, is a mix of highly talented, creative individuals from brand, sports, entertainment, fashion, and design. In this creative leadership role, the CD will have the opportunity to deeply impact and drive our storytelling. The CD role is a source of inspiration that is relied upon for creative thinking, strategic problem solving, and mentorship to the project team working with them. The ideal candidate is exemplary at building collegial and client relationships and is natural at leading their project team through a collaborative creative process. REPORTS TO Chief Creative Officer Responsibilities Lead the development of insights-driven creative concepts, content, and storytelling for TSHC brands and partner campaigns Lead the Creative project team to develop and execute audience-specific content Lead and manage the creation of brand messaging, copy, and content for scripted and unscripted short-form, long-form, and episodic content Lead development of presentation materials throughout the content development or campaign lifecycle Manage a team of writers and ensure their projects are on-brand, and on-track Balance multiple in-house and external client projects, with tight deadlines and often a high volume of work Elevate overall work quality by setting increasingly high standards and articulating ambitious creative opportunities Establish and maintain positive relationships with all clients, becoming an expert on our brands, and our brand partners’ culture, products, preferences, and expectations Provide recommendations on artists, directors, editors and other creative collaborators as needed for content and campaign projects Collaborate cross-functionally with TSHC internal teams (brand partnerships, marketing, social, production, etc) to develop strategies and ideas that support the execution of creative concepts within a campaign Promote a positive creative culture through teamwork and leading by example Collaborate with Project Managers to prioritize and staff projects (i.e. be able to delegate swiftly and play to the writing team’s respective strengths) Work closely with internal cross functional teams to create cohesive storytelling, and to ensure cross-functional integration and strategic implementation of TSHC voice. Mentor and guide your team toward the goal of accelerating skills progression through a culture of collaboration and knowledge sharing Collaborate with Resourcing team to develop a best-in-class in-house and freelance team of copywriters and content contributors Collaborate with Sr. Director of Creative Operations and Chief Creative Officer to define the vision for the writing team Qualification Necessary 10+ years of relevant experience in advertising, marketing, or entertainment 3+ years of experience directly managing individuals or teams Must have an extensive portfolio of creative work that addresses complex storytelling challenges across entertainment, and marketing/advertising content Must have a deep understanding and pulse on culture, particularly sports and lifestyle culture Deep experience with and comfortable leading client presentations and meetings Possess an openness to giving and receiving constructive criticism Passion for sports and entertainment required Bachelor’s degree in related field TSHC believes that each team member makes a significant contribution to our success.
