We’re a platform built for Latinos by Latinos, committed to shining a much needed spotlight on our successes, our people, and our causes as the 200% generation 100% American and 100% Latino.About the role:This is a freelance 3-month role with the likelihood of extension if it is a mutual fit.Hourly rate: $25 – $30 hourlyThis job requires candidates to be able to perform duties that include the following.Responsibilities:Proofread text and correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation errorsVerify factual correctness of information, such as dates and statisticsCheck text for style, readability, and adherence to editorial policiesRewrite text to improve clarity and readabilityCollaborate with the EIC on an editorial calendar for evergreen online content, quarterly content and special projects as assignedCollaborate with EIC to ensure consistency in our brand voice across all brands on the O&OCollaborate with EIC to develop ongoing editorial hubs that align to key moments throughout the year, designed to be brand friendly and secure sponsorshipsAssign articles that will inspire and engage readers and prompt shareabilityStay ahead of popular trends and events that could activate new content ideasServe as point of contact should EIC be out of reachRequirements:Impeccable grammar and editing skills are a mustKnowledge of digital copyright best practices and vulnerabilities is a mustExperience editing stories for a digital or social media publisher is a mustInternet addict: you know what trends are taking over social media, and you know what will click with our audienceDegree in Journalism, Literature, Creative Writing, Marketing, Communications, or Digital Media preferredA passion for increasing the Latinx presence in digital media and entertainmentExcellent interpersonal communication skillsClear communicator via email and Slack; ability to effectively collaborate remotely.
