One week’s paid vacation after the first year as a full-time employee and two weeks’ paid vacation after the second year.Work Schedule: Initially, this is a part-time position. As the art market kicks back into full swing this position will expand into a full-time position. This position requires work during the weekend, holidays such as Easter, 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve, and some evenings.About The PlazaThe Plaza, established in 2011, is a single-screen cinema and media arts center with 70 seats. As a community-supported not-for-profit, The Plaza’s mission is to celebrate the power and magic of film as an art form and as a medium for multicultural exchange and social responsibility by:Screening quality mainstream, independent, foreign films, and operas and plays captured live from world stagesPresenting series and festivals with guest speakersOffering field trips, classes, and workshops in filmmaking and animationContributing to the economic and cultural development of the communityPosition OverviewThe Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing both the technical and customer-oriented functions for The Plaza Cinema & Media Arts Center and is an ambassador for the organization.You will provide overall leadership for box office operations, and ensure premium customer service and operating efficiency in high standards and a fast-paced environment. Customers include patrons, donors, members, board members, community leaders, collaborating partners, and colleagues.The Operations Manager is responsible for weekly staffing; all aspects of film screenings including implementation of screening schedule, pickup, delivery, projection, Agile ticketing system; box office and related sales; monitoring/maintaining of building systems and projection equipment; custodial services, including the auditorium, lobby, concessions area, restrooms; and updating of marquee and film advertising boxes.Customer ServiceEnsures that all elements of customer experience—including ticket and concession purchases, theatre and restroom cleanliness, and resolution of questions/issues—are first-rate.Understands The Plaza’s mission, and maintains general knowledge of art-house films.Operations/Facility ManagementMonitoring all facility systems, including contract services, and maintenance of film projection equipment.Monitors picture and sound quality and contracts related to projection equipment.Orders and tracks supply and demand for concession and food items and sales, including beer and wine, to ensure everything is fully stocked and ready for high traffic periods.Updating marquee and advertising boxes.Oversees ticket sales and box office daily ticket tracking. Ensures grosses are sent to Comscore nightly.Supervises custodial maintenance of the facility and monitors inventory of custodial and box office supplies.Financial ManagementMaintains film rental records as required by film distributors through Agile ticketing system.Supervises daily cash/credit card receipts and deposits at Bank. Maintains daily cash requirements.Staff ManagementManages/collaborates and motivates staff and volunteers, maintaining strong morale. Works to ensure a comfortable, safe, and healthy work environment for colleagues and volunteers.Addresses and documents staff/volunteer performance issues. Takes corrective action; commends good performance; communicates with volunteer supervisor.Attends scheduled meetings and initiates meetings as appropriate.QualificationsThe Operations Manager has experience in an arts-related or hospitality workplace (3+ years preferred). A degree in a related area is helpful.Demonstrated experience in customer service, staff/volunteer management, and team building.Excellent oral communication skills are an asset along with a demonstrated ability to work as part of a small but dedicated team that serves the public.Able to juggle multiple tasks and meet unexpected demands.Commitment to supporting the mission of The Plaza Cinema & Media Arts Center; strong interest in film a plus.Availability to work a flexible work schedule, primarily weekends and holidays, and some evenings as needed.Fluency with office software is required along with significant ease using the box office reporting systems and digital projection equipment and server.
