| Job Description : | SummaryThe Musician is responsible for accompanying (playing piano/organ/guitar/keyboard) or direct musical selections during designated regular and special worship services including accompany singing of hymns, choruses, and spiritual songs; choral response, anthems, and special music that enhances the atmosphere of worship for the particular congregation. The Musician will also accompany regular choir rehearsals: playing the piano/organ/guitar/keyboard and/or direct accompaniment for choir/worship team rehearsals.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.Communicate with the chaplains, priests, song/worship leaders, and other musicians conducting the service to ensure a coordinated service of worship for the congregation. Plan and coordinate all musical selections with the Chaplain/Pastor of the congregation or appropriate designated representative to select music in keeping with the theme of worship service.Select for choir/solo presentation music that enhances the atmosphere of worship for the particular congregation as directed by the Chaplain/Pastor.Coordinate and/or provide music for all services and adjust tempo and style of choir selections to enhance the congregation’s ability to participate in worship as directed by the Chaplain/Pastor.Provide music selections to the Chaplain/Pastor by the time designated for publication in worship service bulletins and coordination with other musical staff.Musicians shall be required to play at any Chapel on Fort Bragg when directed Musicians shall be present at least 30 minutes prior to each mass or chapel service and 15 minutes before each rehearsal.Musicians shall monitor all government provided instruments used and report requirements or repair or replacementPerforms related or similar duties as required or assignedEducation and/or Experience Required to be able to read and play traditional, contemporary, and new age music according to the religious services being rendered. Each musician shall demonstrate musical proficiency on the piano/keyboard, and on the electric organ if used as the primary instrument for leading worship.Must be knowledgeable of and be able to apply liturgical and contemporary music norms of the Catholic/Protestant tradition in preparation for worship and/or Special Services for the specific Chapel tradition in which they will perform the fulfillments of this contract.Musician shall be knowledgeable of and conversant with developments in Catholic/Protestant music both liturgical and contemporary for the specific Chapel tradition of the congregation served by this contract.Strong verbal and written communication skillsExcellent interpersonal communication skills and a sense of diplomacy – able to collaborate across marketing, sales, and internal thought-leadersStrong independent contributor and team playerJob Types: Part-time, ContractPay: $60.00 per hourBenefits:Employee assistance programEmployee discountSchedule:Weekend availabilityEducation:High school or equivalent (Preferred)Work Location: One location |
