Job Description : | JOB PURPOSE The Accounting Manager works with the Controller and finance staff to ensure all financial and accounting operations for this $18MM non-profit organization are executed efficiently and accurately; possessing a strong working knowledge of accounting principles/practices thereby demonstrating excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. This position oversees the finance team, reviews financial transactions such as journal entries, schedules, and reconciliations to ensure accuracy as it relates to general ledger accounts. The Accounting Manager is detail-oriented and experienced with a proven track record of successful oversight and coordination of daily operations in an accounting/finance department. The Accounting Manager must be able keep abreast of the latest developments in accounting technologies and software to streamline accounting processes. To be successful, the Accounting Manager should be able to process large amounts of numerical data and have strong leadership skills. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Strategy Assist the Controller by supporting process flow and procedures, analyzing financial data by collecting, reviewing, and monitoring the various system reports for decision support. Lead Process Improvement Team Administration Liaison to all departments to ensure that each department remains compliant with financial matters; assisting staff members/budget holders in the preparation of monthly and quarterly accounting reports. Identify potential cash flow problems and financial irregularities. Perform reconciliations of general ledger accounts. Supervise and providing overall guidance to finance staff. Oversight of the Month End Close process including, but not limited to: preparation of complex reconciliations, review of journal entries/reconciliation, and reconciliation of payroll accounts Provide Audit Support Manage Accruals/Deferrals Maintain Fixed Assets Schedules (Depreciation) Monitor Inventory Prepare Deposits Manage the Chart of Accounts Track Accounts Receivables Perform Revenue Recognition Analysis QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field. Nonprofit accounting experience preferred but not required. Proven experience working as an Accounting Manager/Lead. 5 to 10 years of Accounting Experience, required Sound knowledge of current accounting principles and practices. The ability to process large amounts of numerical data. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software; Microsoft 365, Sage, and/or Tessitura a plus Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail Strong management and leadership skills with a concentration on effective communication.
