Position Summary:

The Director of Game Presentation and Events is responsible for overseeing the direction and production of all LA Galaxy/LA Galaxy II home games and Club events.

Essential Functions:

Oversee all full and part-time department team members, including the Manager of Game Presentation & Events, Coordinator of Game Presentation & Events, mascot, in-game host, public address announcer, Star Squad, Field Operations Crew, Stage Managers, in-game DJ, etc.
Manage and develop the Galaxy Star Squad program, including: planning/promoting/managing auditions; overseeing the hiring process; training; designing uniforms; scheduling 300+ community appearances throughout the year; creating game day rundowns of roles/assignments to fulfill Club needs such as in-game promotion, marketing initiatives, raising money for the LA Galaxy Foundation, etc.; handling personnel issues; scheduling and managing annual photo shoots and production of the Star Squad autograph card; running the Star Squad’s social media accounts; etc.
Manage Mobile Marketing program by researching local community events, negotiating trade deals for activation space on site, and coordinating details of the LA Galaxy’s activation.
Produce and direct all LA Galaxy game entertainment with the focus of energizing our team and our fans to create the best experience in professional sports. This includes, but is not limited to, the production of all LA Galaxy pre-season games, regular season games, playoff games, non-MLS tournaments (i.e., ICC, CCL, etc.), off-site home games and other targeted games and events – plus, in-game special ceremonies, theme-nights, etc.
Create, develop and update game scripts and logs to properly activate all sales, marketing, and game presentation goals. Clear and proactive communication with all production, global partnerships, and marketing teams to guarantee strong implementation of all game night needs at the highest possible level.
Create and develop interactive ideas and in-game promotions that will continually improve the Galaxy game experience, with special emphasis on those that can be attached to a sponsor.
Develop sellable promotional opportunities (including, but not limited to halftime promotions, interactive contests, and other in-game ideas) that benefit our fans and corporate sales team.
Manage Group Sales efforts with the ticket sales team, including all On-Field Experiences, and work to successfully fulfill revenue generating commitments while maintaining a fan-focused presentation.
Oversee, and assist department Manager and Coordinator with, LA Galaxy II game presentation – including, on field experiences, scripts/rundowns, etc.
Create, implement and maintain the annual department budget – including the operational and part-time compensation budgets, stadium costs, etc.
Develop strong vendor relationships that support game day initiatives, including existing pyrotechnic partners, Anthem singers, SoccerFest vendors, DJ’s, etc.
Oversee the production of other key organizational events including Meet the Players, Holiday Party, Watch Parties, etc.
Act as main point of contact with MLS regarding game operations, stadium security, special ceremonies, timeline for broadcast, League initiatives, etc., and meet with Match Observers on game days to discuss any issues.
Coordination with various Department Heads on the oversight and management of all LA Galaxy events.

Required Qualifications:

BA/BS Degree (4-year) In Sports, marketing, communications, or related field from an accredited College/ University required
6-8 years Experience in a similar field preferred
4-6 years Experience in Game Entertainment and/or Operation
Experience with a professional sports team is a plus
Specific experience directing games and managing a creative team
Proactive, highly organized, and resourceful with great attention to details
Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize workload efficiently and quickly
Must have a strong command of reasoned, measured decision-making based upon analyzing the pros and cons of each potential decision to be made
Must be able to anticipate and identify problems, their sources, and their potential solutions while continuing to successfully conduct day-to-day operations without interruption; solutions-based mindset
Ability to multi-task, meet tight timelines, and work effectively in a high pressure and fast-paced environment
Ability to professionally handle highly sensitive and confidential information
Must be creative, idea-oriented, and thrive in a collaborative team-based environment
Must be technically proficient with MS Office.
Professional proficiency in popular social media platforms is a plus
Outstanding written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to professionally communicate and interact with all levels of management, staff, etc.
Flexible schedule to allow commitment to all LA Galaxy and LA Galaxy II home games during the 2016 season, including some weekends, evenings, and some holidays to meet game/event needs
