Job Description Summary
The Office of University Communications seeks a highly motivated, professional video producer to develop original short documentary and promotional videos. They will work with departmental staff, multiple constituencies throughout the University to conceive, coordinate, record and edit original video showcasing campus life, faculty research and strategic University priorities.

Job Description

Responsibilities/Duties include but are not limited to:
Pre-Production Tasks: Research stories ideas, participate in content strategy meetings, pitch story ideas, write original narrative and interview scripts. Work with clients, arrange shooting locations, etc.
Field Recording Tasks: transportation, set-up/breakdown of equipment, camera operation, audio, lighting, interviewing researchers, administrators and students. Possible subject matter includes interviews with media experts, profiles of ongoing research and event coverage.
Post-Production Tasks: Footage evaluation, editing, logging in digital asset management system, audio mixing, motion graphic design, color correction, asset retrieval, sharing with University staff and external vendors, media.
Collaborate with staff writers of Penn Today to record, edit, produce podcasts.
Create original shorts and customized cuts of original content for use across University social media channels. Upload, optimize and organize video content. Maintenance of video-related social media channels.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in video production, journalism, or related field with 5-7 years of professional related experience in a production environment developing short-format documentaries or video news coverage or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Proven experience leading all aspects of video production (pre-production, recording, post-production) .
Pre-production experience including: story research, location scouting, pitching ideas, script writing, outreach and production scheduling.
Field production experience including: transportation, set-up/break down of equipment, camera operation, audio, lighting, and interviewing clients including researchers, administrators, students.
Post-production experience including footage evaluation, editing, logging in DAMS, audio mixing, motion graphic design, color correction, distribution of videos.Adhere to post-production workflow.
Expertise with Adobe Creative Cloud
High level of motivation, attention to detail, clear communication skills, time management, problem-solving ability.
Proven ability to effectively manage multiple overlapping projects
Links to a strong online portfolio or examples of work must be provided to be considered for this position. Portfolio must demonstrate polished cinematography and editing. Please note your role with each piece in your application letter or within portfolio.
Must be able to occasionally work after hours and on weekends.
Driver’s license required.
Must be able to carry 35lbs

Preferred Skills:
Knowledge of working in a higher education or related non-profit environment
Experience in CatDV or similar digital asset management systems
Experience shooting S-Log3 on Sony FS7
Ability to repair equipment and troubleshoot post production software
Strong sense of graphic design for creation of basic logos and motion graphics
