Full-Time Position
Role based in Boston, MA
The Video Editor is responsible for ideating and creating impactful and highly engaging social and viral video content to further the Mel Robbins Brand.
They will work directly with the Lead Video Editor and have a sharp eye for trends, visual design and create engaging, narrative impact through video in short and long form. Editors must be able to take a script from conception efficiently and creatively, creating a sequence of shots from supplied raw footage, dialogue, sound effects and graphics.
You’ll be responsible for…
Creating social media-first content from ideation to delivery for a variety of platforms
Maintaining brand visual standards
Create rough cuts and determine exact cutting for the next and final stages; reorder and tweak the content to ensure logical sequencing and smooth running of the film/video based on varying platform needs
Input music, dialogues, graphics and effects
Actively participating in content planning for Mel Robbins’ social platforms
Works well independently, effectively manages multiple projects and meets time-sensitive deadlines
Works in partnership with the social media team to develop social-first creative (short and long form) on weekly output basis
Editing and utilizing existing video footage as well as collaborate on the creation of new footage as the need arises
Develop video ads and promotional materials on an as-needed basis
Experiment with new and innovative editing techniques, while also taking into consideration the native features of social platforms
Consult with stakeholders from production to post-production process
Attend production shoots, assist with gear set up/break down, and coordinate with the creative team for video priorities.
Maintain a library and archive all content
You’re the ideal candidate for this position if you…
BS degree in film studies, broadcast journalism, cinematography, or related field
Proven work experience as a Video Editor with 2-4 years experience
Reel or portfolio required and must contain social media examples
Demonstrate solid video editing and storytelling skills
Live and breathe the full Adobe Creative Suite: (1) Expert in Premiere; (2) Good Knowledge/Familiarity of Photoshop, Illustrator & After Effects
Also has experience filming and is knowledgeable around production equipment
Deep familiarity with social platforms including, but not limited to, Instagram (In-Feed, Stories, Reels, IGTV), YouTube/Shorts, Facebook, TikTok, and LinkedIn
Willing to push the needle and elevate what’s possible through video using different formats and editing techniques
Stay immersed in pop culture and translate that to relevant video brand content
Thorough understanding of social best practices – e.g., export settings, file formats, social safe margin zones, etc.
Understand how to use and balance emotional and functional content on social media
Have the ability to work quickly in a fast-paced environment and develop processes to help optimize the production process
Are able to set priorities and remain flexible in changing environments
Possess high EQ and strong interpersonal skills; a team player, a positive go-getter and all-around good person
Proficiency in Google Suite (email, docs, drive, slides)
Able to both provide and implement feedback with ease and in a timely manner
Self-starter and ability to work in a small team environment.
Forensic attention to detail
Eye for innovation and identifying emerging platforms and trends in the digital space
Previous shooting experience is a plus
Familiarity with podcast editing is a plus
