Job Description : Role Summary
As an Usher at the Chicago Theater you will promote positive guest/client experiences during the beginning (ingress), middle of event and show departure (egress). An Usher’s role is responsible for greeting the guest, directing the guest through various entry/departure points, assisting with emergency or medical situations and answering general questions regarding the event or the Chicago Theater.

As a crucial member of our team, a Chicago Usher may be requested to work a flexible schedule inclusive of early mornings, day & evening shifts (late evenings may be required), weekends, holidays and back to back events. All candidates must be available to work 75% of the monthly show schedule. Additionally, an Usher may be assigned to an area with adverse temperature/weather conditions such as directing guests in/out of the theater while being positioned outside of the building. This role requires Ushers to stand and move freely throughout the property during their shift.

Specific Functions/Activities Summary:
As an Usher at the Chicago Theater you will promote positive guest/client experiences during the beginning (ingress), middle of event and show departure (egress).
Check aisles, rows, and seats prior to the house opening to ensure cleanliness. Alert Supervisor of any issues prior to opening.
Check designated area to be sure all emergency exit pathways are clear and accessible prior to opening. Alert Supervisor prior with any concerns.
Welcome guests to the MSG Chicago Theatre with a smile and friendly demeanor.
Scan patron’s tickets report any invalid tickets to a Supervisor and assist patrons to their seats efficiently and professionally while answering questions and concerns.
Assist third party vendors with any necessary set-up prior to ingress.
Be prepared to take an active role in Emergency Operations procedures (evacuation plan) through on-going training and drills.
Turn in any Lost and Found items to the Supervisor immediately.
Communicate any building deficiencies, security concerns, or safety issues to a Supervisor.
Ensure that event rules and policies are being adhered to as they pertain to a show.
Assist other departments as needed.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB:
Must be receptive to working outside in inclement weather and extreme temperatures.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Ability to stand and move about the theater throughout the duration of the shift.
Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, have split days off, work weekends and holidays in a 24 X 7 environment.

Qualifications:
Previous Usher, Ticket Tacker or Guest Relations experience preferred.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work with large crowds.
Must be able to tolerate and work in a loud, fast paced environment.
General computer and email proficiency are required
Maintain a professional manner, presence, and appearance always while on premises/duty.
All candidates must be available to work 75% of the monthly show schedule (No guarantee of minimum hours).
Must be comfortable with heights (working on high floor) and navigating steep steps and inclines.
Must be willing to rotate to various positions within a shift.
