| Job Description : | Tour guide , stage performer and/or experienced public speaker looking for an extra fun and lucrative summer gig.Compensation: Starting at $16/hr plus gratuitiesEmployment type: part-time (4 days/week)We are looking for an entertaining, responsible, energetic, and organized person to guide 4 days/week from end of April through October.Maine Duck Tours is the only amphibious vehicle in Portland to offer an exciting land and sea tour for all ages. The job requires narrating a 1 hour land and sea tour, greeting tourists, and assisting with loading guests onto the vehicle. We are located in the heart of the Old Port inside The Blue Lobster Gift Shop. It is a very busy place and this position is important to assuring our customers have a safe and pleasant experience. Other tasks involve answering guest questions and offering them recommendations of places to shop, eat, and sightsee. Local info is important to know.It’s a fun gig and you will surely meet people from all over! Weekend availability a must!Please attach resume with reply.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES–Ability to assist with USCG emergency drills and keep guests safe, provide accurate passenger counts and maintain a positive attitude.-Keep open communication with general manager and Captain, and assist with the departure of the Duck.-Historical and general knowledge of Portland and area (much of the history we can/will teach).-Convey a sense of professionalism in both demeanor and appearance.-Speak clearly and accurately through a microphone.-Be able to stand for long periods of time with ability to balance in moving vehicle both on land and in water.OTHER QUALIFICATIONSMust be 18 years or older.
