| Job Description : | Haunted Boston Ghost Tours, Boston’s most prominent and oldest walking ghost tour company, provides 90 minute tours that highlight the ghost lore and darker history of the Boston Common and the downtown area. New guides are provided with a manual of stories and locations and will spend 1-2 weeks shadowing other guides to observe the variations on tour routes and styles of storytelling.You are not required to memorize a script; we will work with you to develop a tour route that fits your abilities. You will not be required to wear a costume, develop an accent, or “scare” customers; we are not a theatrical tour, but we are looking for charismatic guides. We offer traditional storytelling that highlights the “other” side of Boston’s history. Therefore, we are looking for guides that are confident, engaging, and entertaining speakers. All guides wear black clothing and carry a lantern (which is provided).Regular tours are scheduled nightly at 8pm. Guides are expected to arrive at the beginning location by 7:30 to sign in customers. In addition to regularly scheduled tours, we often have private tours and additional tours when the 8pm is sold out.Most guests pay by credit card but you will be required to collect cash on occasion. Within 24 hours you must submit a tour report indicating cash collected and any absent customers. Compensation is $40 per public tour, $55 per private tour, plus tips & bonuses. Our guides are independent contractors.Previous acting or tour guide experience and general knowledge of Boston’s history is a big plus, but not required.Job Types: Part-time, ContractPay: $20.00 – $30.00 per hourSchedule:Night shiftOn callWeekend availabilitySupplemental Pay:Bonus payTipsCOVID-19 considerations:We are encouraging social distancing, hand sanitation, and masks while on our tours.
