About the role:
Reporting to the Director of Social Media, the Social Media Editor will spearhead how we share content and engage with our audience across Taste of Home’s social platforms, with an emphasis on TikTok and Instagram. You’ll help increase our brands’ digital footprint and maximize its social reach and engagement on and off platform. The Social Media Editor will bring our brands’ voice to both existing and emerging platforms in a way that is energizing and informative, while also using data to inform distribution decisions.
You have a background creating and promoting content for social media, driving traffic and building audience engagement, preferably for a publisher. Eager to stay current with the quickly evolving digital universe, you have a knack for digging into data to identify opportunities and to improve content positioning and performance. And ideally, you also have a passion for the food and lifestyle space, and at least 1 year of professional experience. Basic video editing experience is also a plus.
Write, schedule and publish unique and compelling daily social content across the brand’s accounts, including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and others, with a strong focus on driving traffic and conversion, growing qualified audience, and boosting engagement.
Partner with editorial and culinary teams to identify viral content opportunities within the social space.
Nurture and communicate with our social communities/audiences, including our Bakeable from Taste of Home Facebook Group.
Brainstorm and execute new post types and social campaigns to drive traffic and engage our audiences.
Test and analyze an optimal blend of content (videos, graphics, etc.).
Help shape social strategy and brand positioning to increase audience and drive user engagement, using data to identify new opportunities for the site including editorial gaps, tools, content partnerships and more.
Clearly identify growth and engagement goals for each platform; create, develop, execute and analyze testing programs; and report to the team on a regular basis about what is and isn’t working.
Conduct influencer research and outreach to expand our current list of contacts.
Plan and manage a dynamic and engaging social calendar of events, content promotions, influencer takeovers and more that will have a role in dictating what is posted to Instagram to help achieve our goals.
Collaborate with teams including editorial, digital products and affiliate to develop and support social campaigns across platforms.
Track competitive landscape to identify trends and opportunities within the space.
Ideally at least 1-2 years of social-media experience—preferably with a publisher—with a focus on Instagram.
Proven experience managing social campaigns and communities and developing and testing social strategies.
Demonstrated track record of growing and engaging audiences through social networks including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and others.
Exceptional knowledge of and passion for established and emerging social platforms, trends and practices.
Experience and familiarity with various social scheduling and analytics tools (CrowdTangle, Google Analytics, SocialFlow, Later, Tailwind, etc.).
Must be a team player and work well with others.
A keen familiarity with, and interest in, the food and lifestyle space.
Extremely sharp writing and grammar skills, and sound editorial judgment.
Ability to work collaboratively as well as autonomously.
Basic design, video and/or photo editing experience a plus.
