Job Summary As Senior Director of Engineering, Developer Platform, you will be joining a fantastic team and continuing the transformation to deliver our Entertainment Platform as a Product. This exciting new approach for building entertainment experiences requires working alignment between product management, engineering, experience design, and operations. You will work closely with other engineering teams to create interconnected components that allow our clients to build a variety of entertainment-focused products (like Xfinity Flex and XClassTV) with relative ease.
The Senior Director will lead a strong engineering team with vast knowledge in how to build amazing viewing experiences. In addition, we will be growing the team extensively. You will need to foster a culture of mentorship, sharing, and collaboration as the team continues to add new team members.
Job Description Core responsibilities
Attracts and retains diverse, high-performing software engineering leaders and individual contributors.
Builds highly functional paths of communication with peers and other leaders throughout the organization.
Provides complexity, cost and time estimation.
Develops case studies, roadmaps and models to influence strategic spending.
Influences design and development strategies across platforms, teams and third parties.
Researches and leads others to research new technology areas.
Works with industry partners to develop new standards.
Works with staff to develop prototype solutions and/or model solutions to prove out technology directions.
Contributes to software, systems architecture, design reviews etc.
Advises stakeholders in technology-related issues in many areas.
Contributes to the continuous improvement of team processes and standards.
Represents team in project and governance settings.
Consistently exercises independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Highly desirable skills/experience
Working knowledge of JavaScript frameworks (LightningJS, ReactJS, AngularJS, etc).
Experience building enterprise-scale systems.
Experience in creating a developer-friendly CMS (content management system).
Solid understanding of DevOps practices and how they apply to building client applications.
Experience in being a “leader of leaders”
Experience leading a team of 25 or more software engineers
Experience in building a collaborative, inclusive team culture.
Previous experience managing contractor vendors.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
