| Job Description : | Job DescriptionJob Title: OrganistReports to: Director of Music/Worship Coordinator MinisterPosition Status: Part-time with flexible availabilityAntioch East Baptist Church is seeking an organist. Principal function, the church organist is a committed Christian who provides organ music and accompaniment for scheduled worship service and other activities and support of the music ministry.Job Description: Part time position with full flexibility availability. Expectation of availability is for all worship services, all rehearsals, and other special services, including but not limited to, Christmas and Easter. To work in cooperation with the music ministry team, ministerial and church staff, leaders, and congregation.Job Requirements: A disciple of Jesus Christ, committed to growing in faith practicing spiritual disciplines of prayer, scripture study, worship participation and service.Experience in church worship with both organ and other music. Understanding and familiarity with blended worship preferred.Flexibility to play in blended style services that include all types of worship music.Knowledge of the instrument and keyboard ability sufficient to play hymns, songs, and anthems. Ability to sight read and improvise.High degree of competence on organ and the ability to accompany groups and individuals.Knowledge of basic music theory and ability to perform simple transpositions and harmonization’s.Willingness to rehearse sufficiently to maintain a high quality of music.Sensitivity and the ability to interact with a variety of people.Ability to take direction and work as a team member.Ability to communicate well and in a friendly manner.Desire to maintain a constant program of self-improvement.Job Responsibilities: Support the church worship environment through the well execution of music presented by the music ministry.Serve as accompanist for the music ministry in regular and special rehearsals and performances assigned.Facilitate congregational singing and worship.Play for other church functions as requested and based on availability.Maintain an accurate account of organ needs and maintenance.Assist the Director of music/worship coordinator in finding a substitute for services when not available.Salary: Negotiable, consistent with candidates’ education, experience and skill level.All interested candidates contact: Virginia Burford(404)374-5364OrTheresa Wells404-295-6945Job Type: Part-timePay: From $11.00 per hourSchedule:Weekend availabilityEducation:High school or equivalent (Preferred)Experience:Music Performers: 1 year (Preferred)Work Location: One location |
