| Job Description : | Job Purpose: TRG’s US news writer needs to be someone who communicates the most exciting, weird, and noteworthy stories in gaming to our readers. You’ll go wherever the story is to get the details: talk to sources at game studios, pick through financial reports from publishers, and find out what fans are saying on the forums. TRG’s News team needs people able to tell a story as they would like to read it – and do it better than anyone else. You must recognize the core of a story and do the legwork to ensure it’s supported with citeable evidence and compelling copy. You should have an interest in the wider gaming industry and covering its biggest titles and hardware, though we welcome anyone who has a passion for niche topics, too. Key responsibilities: The ideal candidate will be growing the gaming news coverage on TRG, delivering day in and day out best-in-class stories that highlight what’s going on in gaming. You’ll talk about big new releases, updates to the games our readers are playing, and dig deep to find stories no one else is telling. You will cover major news events – such as E3 and Gamescom – contributing to live blogs, roundups, and op-eds about the big announcements. Following major news stories, you will also help edit our evergreen hubs on key topics, ensuring they’re up to date and relevant for readers. You will be part of a large team, reporting to the news editor and working from our playbook to ensure new stories are accurate and rigorously reported, and above all, entertaining and engaging. You’ll be working with a team of writers and contributors who are equally passionate about trustworthy content and great games and hardware. Requirements What do I need to succeed? Fantastic writing skills Experience writing online, preferably writing news An ability to work in a fast-moving environment Excellent time management skills A knack for breaking down complex subjects into a clear and easily understood fashion A willingness to just get writing when you sense a good lead An understanding of SEO and traffic data Benefits What will I get in return?
