SVP is seeking a self-starter to join our rapidly growing Human Resources team as a Learning Event Coordinator. The individual hired for this role will create customized events that enhance teammates’ learning experience and bring L&D programs to life.
How can you add value?
The Learning Event Coordinator will be responsible for the planning and execution of all virtual and in-person learning events. In this role, you will report to the Director of Training & Development and serve the broader SVP network. Our $500M+ business operates over 300 animal hospitals, serving over 500,000 pets across the country.
The role has a high level of visibility to leadership within all levels of the organization, given the work’s collaborative nature and the focus on delivering a quality learning experience to our stakeholders. This role is 100% remote, and will require travel to Birmingham, AL area and other locations as determined by the L&D leadership team (minimum travel requirement will include at least two work-related trips per year).

Responsibilities / Qualifications:

Serve as an ambassador of our culture; live and exemplify our WAG values
Work cross-functionally with managers, subject matter experts, instructors, and teammates to bring training events to life
Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and venues, including creation and negotiation of contracts
Plan logistics for all virtual and in-person events, including: facilitation of brainstorming sessions to determine event themes and learning objectives; management of attendee invites and registration; preparation of venue, site visits, and event set-up/clean-up; distribution and creation of learning materials and the session agenda; determination of guest speakers, entertainment, transportation, security and catering; coordination of seating arrangements, communications, equipment, decor, and marketing materials
Use L&D project management system to ensure event deliverables are delivered on time and within budget
Create reliable financial reports, and collect/make payments on time
Proactively identify and solve challenges that could impact the integrity of an event
Manage annual event planning cycle by hosting event debriefs and identifying opportunity for future event enhancements
Perform other related duties as assigned

Build relationships across diverse teams with both internal and external stakeholders, including home office teams and regional leaders
Act as a self-starter with a high level of autonomy
Collaborate with peers and leaders on a team that is geographically dispersed
What skills should you bring to the role?
Bachelor’s degree in communication, event management, or a related discipline preferred
At least one year of relevant experience in event management
Highly dependable with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to execute
Willing to work a flexible schedule including some weekends and nights
Enjoys working in a fast-paced, unstructured and dynamic environment
Creative and client-centric approach to event planning
Proven ability to perform with a high sense of urgency and the ability to meet strict deadlines
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Adept at using Event Management Systems
Extremely proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related program software
Health care background is preferred (veterinary or human healthcare, pharmaceutical, etc.)
