Job Description : Entertainment Design Adjunct Instructor Five Teaching Position OpeningsLaguna College of Art + Design, is seeking an experienced Entertainment Design Adjunct Instructor. The College is located in an internationally recognized arts colony in Laguna Beach, California and offers a diversity of majors in Animation, Graphic Design and Digital Media, Fine Art, Game Art, Illustration and Entertainment Design.Course: Concept Design for EntertainmentCourse Description: This is an advanced course in visual development, art direction and production design with an emphasis on the organization of all the pictorial components in a visual system supporting narrative content. The conceptualization of design choices, the calibration of stylistic parameters and other world building techniques will be explored through the creation of detailed concept art and the elaboration of a complete style guide. Emphasis is placed on prop design and set dressing for environment design and themed entertainment.Course: Costume Design for EntertainmentCourse Description: This is a studio course designed towards developing knowledge of costume design as it pertains to illustration and the entertainment industry. The course provides extensive development, sketch and rendering practice towards the historical context for how clothing, costume accessories, and armor have evolved through the past several millennia. Additionally, this course will function in collaboration with character design for Entertainment Design, providing students with design skills required specifically for the entertainment industry.Course: Figure Painting for Entertainment DesignCourse Description: In this course students will be introduced to fundamentals of figure painting in gouache, with emphasis on direct observation and accurate representation. Students will be introduced to traditional painting techniques that will compliment and reinforce digital painting skills. The course will focus on full figure compositions. Students will practice quick sketch techniques and long pose techniques. Students will reinforce their knowledge of anatomy, light and shadow, color temperature, and learn various painting techniques.Course: Fundamentals of Entertainment DesignCourse Description: This is a studio course meant to introduce students to Entertainment Design and the creative practices and problem-solving techniques used in the Entertainment industry. This course provides foundations skills commonly used in the creation of concept art. There is an emphasis on the visual development process and approaches to drawing and painting that provide students with an ability to clearly communicate the form and function of characters, objects, and environments. Students will learn basic xyz and constructive sketching techniques. Students will use inspiration and reference to develop their ideas into thumbnail designs, resolved sketches and diagrams, and finished concept illustrations.Course: Storyboarding for Entertainment – Live Action Film + TelevisionCourse Description: This course teaches students to develop and create a sequential series of staged drawings (that is, the visual script of each scene in a film). The course covers how to effectively portray the essence of a story by means of quick and accurate sketches. A brief overview of script writing is included. The script’s plot, situations, and conflict are developed from rough sketches to finished presentations. This course also examines staging, cinematography, drama, action notes, dialogue, pacing, timing, and sequencing the story’s action.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesLecture and demonstrate course material in a way that fulfills department needs/standards.Preparation of syllabus, attendance, and teaching of curriculum according to the goals and objectives of the department.Work with live nude models – ability to set up lighting and poses for long poses.
