Job Description : Christ Lutheran Church and Education CenterDirector of Worship ArtsTo whom responsible: Senior PastorPrincipal Summary: Worship is God strengthening His people through Word and Sacrament ministry. It is also an opportunity to respond to God through song, prayer, praise, and thanksgiving. The Director of Worship Arts (DWA) will be dedicated to leading and growing the worship ministry at Christ Lutheran Church & Education Center (CLC).The responsibilities of the Director of Worship Arts include overseeing the development of regular and special worship services. The DWA will build teams, which support worship for recruitment, training and leading of multiple worship related programs. The DWA will design worship that is multi-sensory and makes appropriate use of technology. The DWA Arts will play a key role in leading people into a deeper personal relationship with Jesus Christ, nurturing spiritual growth and fostering an attitude of service within the church and community. To live out and help others to live out our Vision, Mission and Core Values, the DWA will demonstrate a Christ-like attitude and lifestyle of love, faithfulness and praise.Qualifications: A proven leader:Ability to shepherd and grow worship team members and other teams related to the worship life at CLC.Strong leadership, team building, organization, and administrative skills.Effective interpersonal and communication skills.Positive attitude, sense of humor, team player spirit.Musically ready to serve:Proficient in leading worship. Proficient vocalist and instrumentalist with the ability to lead, organize, coordinate, direct and motivate worship and technical teams.Broad musical interests and abilities, including both contemporary and traditional worship styles.Theologically aligned with the Mission of CLC:Worship philosophy consistent with CLC’s culture and an eagerness to explore new opportunities for future growth and development of our worship life.Doctrinal discernment when evaluating potential music and other worship elements.Spiritual maturity and committed to personal growth in faith relationship with Christ.Committed to the Vision and Mission of CLC, and willingness to become a member upon accepting a role on staff.Specific Duties: Serve as the head of our worship program:Own the coordination of all aspects of regular services at CLC. This involves everyone from the musicians, to altar care, acolytes, crucifers, ushers, and more.Oversee choirs, ensembles, worship team leaders, sound and AV team leaders/schedulers, with training and oversight of worship support.Communicate worship details to appropriate staff and volunteers each week for bulletin and multimedia needs.Oversee worship and music needs for special services (i.e. weddings and funerals)Maintain accountability for worship philosophy (according to our Mission, Vision and Core Values) by providing prayer support, credible feedback and mentoring to music and technical worship leaders/teams.Foster a spirit of growth and innovation.Support of school and youth programs:Coordinate with Christ Lutheran School (CLS) to provide musical and vocal leadership.Collaborate with CLS’s Director of Music to drive students involvement in worship.Collaborate with Next Generation Ministries’ music coordinator for CLC youth worship events.Serve as a leader within our broader team:Serve as a collaborative team member in the worship planning process. This involves planning themes and worship series with the worship planning team as well seasonal theme refinement, and weekly worship service planning with the pastors.Serves on the Executive Ministry Team, which includes developing a yearly strategic plan for worship arts.Own administrative elements related to the worship program:Establish yearly goals and objectives to be shared with supervisor and annually reviewed.Work with the Director of Administration to establishing yearly spending plan for worship arts.Oversee the maintenance and growth of multimedia libraries.Oversee copyright management and reporting.Oversee, maintain, and develop plans for future upgrades of AV and sound-system equipment.Oversee, develop, and maintain all musical instruments owned by CLC.Professional Growth: The DWA is encouraged to spend daily time with God in personal devotions, prayer, and the study of God’s Word.Continue to develop skills in the area of worship arts.When possible, The Director of Worship is encouraged to seek out and take part in conferences and leadership development opportunities (in person, online, teleconference, etc.).Ministry at CLC is a team effort and all team players are encouraged to maintain a humble and teachable spirit to foster open communication, constructive feedback, and team success.Education and/or Experience: Music degree or a minimum of four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Meet Christ Lutheran Church: When you worship at Christ Lutheran Church and Education Center (CLC), you enter a Christ-centered atmosphere where the people of God form a warm, inviting, and friendly community of believers with a strong mission heartbeat.
