About The Role:
Dotdash Meredith is looking for a contract Developmental Editor for InStyle. You will review the work of freelance editors, ensuring all articles meet quality standards, and follow project instructions and brand guidelines. You will also offer new and veteran editors feedback and revisions to improve the overall editing process..
This is a remote position, but applicants must live within the United States or Canada and be able to commit at least 20 hours per week. The successful candidate must provide clips that demonstrate their expertise with relevant subject matter. The rate for this role is commensurate with experience.

About Your Contributions:
You will review and edit updated articles, ensuring that the editor’s update work follows the specific project instructions and InStyle and Dotdash Meredith guidelines, is free of all grammatical errors, and puts the reader first—all while meeting Dotdash Meredith standards for quality content.
You will coach newly hired editors throughout their first few projects, providing them feedback on each article they update and notes for revisions, when necessary.
You will spot check veteran editors’ work to ensure they still meet InStyle standards, and provide them with feedback.
About You:
You have at least 3 years experience editing and/or copy editing beauty, entertainment, fashion or related content, preferably for a digital brand, magazine, or newspaper
You have a strong background in beauty, entertainment, and fashion editorial, with current industry knowledge
You’re able to easily adopt an established brand voice, and you adhere to strict brand and style guidelines like a pro.
You’re a great editor, detail-oriented, a grammar wiz, and consider yourself “nit-picky” at times. You know the difference between an en-dash and an em-dash.
You’re an excellent communicator, and comfortable giving feedback, whether positive or negative, to a team member.
You consider yourself a visual person
Comfortable with content management systems, including WordPress
Detail-oriented and able to work efficiently, independently, and accurately
You have a Bachelor’s degree
You are comfortable working remotely
You have access to a smartphone, computer (not a tablet), and a secure internet connection
